Recipe for one CRAZY day of Christmas

This blog post is going to be insane.  Because you see, just because life is hectic – there are still many Christmas-y  things to do.  And since our holiday season was shorter this year, we simply decided to declare one day the day in which we would try to squeeze all these things.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m happy we did.  I’m also happy it’s over… and that we have pictures.  First thing?  Aprons.

The holiday must be properly announced.  Regardless of grammar.

This cake is a little embarassing.  Martha Stewart would be mortified.  I mean, who uses prunes to decorate a cake?  I guess these days they’re trying to call them dried plums, but who are they fooling?  I will say one thing about this cake.  Regardless of how hideous this snowman/prune-pig is, it was a delicious cake, made from Sherri D.’s fantastic almond cake recipe.  If you’re in our small group, where we have this cake practically every Sunday night, you’ll back me up on this one.

I’m sorry for what I did to you, oh delicious cake.  You deserved better.

Okay, so first we make a quite ambitious list of all the things we’re going to do in ONE DAY.

We make cards.  About five total.  Way too much effort for the output.

Get comfortable.  There’s more.

Cookie time.  I’m not a purist.  I buy the dough.  While you make the cookies, try to look really, really cute.Keep that Christmas energy! (or is that a sugar-cookie-dough rush?)Wait.  Patiently.Take a picture break.  I LOVE this one.Don’t be sad.  I’m not going to show you the completed cookies because they look terrible.  You’re not missing a thing.

Finally, bundle up in your Christmas best to go look at Christmas lights.

No matter what traditions you decided to honor- or fit in- this year, we hope your season, like ours, was a mess – but blessed.Merry Christmas from the Scotts.

P.S. – For those of you waiting… Blaze & Landon’s wedding is coming up soon!   We’ll probably have it blogged before they get out of the Houston airport! : )

  1. You should have posted the “awful” cookies. I posted mine–the boys decorated them…by themselves. Merry Christmas!

  2. I was showing Drew these pictures and I asked him who those guys were and he said ME! Then he recognized Emma… naturally that was Ben.

He would like to know why his buddy Ben looks sad in the last pic with Emma.

Love his very concerned near cousin Drew Scott
    by way of his Mother
