Well, we’re back from our whirlwind trip to Vegas, and one question keeps popping into my head… “How do Donnie & Marie fit into this picture?”. I mean, Cher, Bette Midler, Elton John, sure, but Donnie and Marie?!? They seem far too white bread for a crusty spot like this. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any shows while we were there. We were attending the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) Convention. It was an amazing opportunity to see some of our personal Rock Stars in the photography world (Marcus Bell, Tamara Lackey, Jerry Gionis, Yervant, Jesh De Rox, Elizabeth Messina, Jeff & Julia Woods & Jed & Vicki Taufer… just to name a few). And no, it’s not name dropping since I have no personal connection with any of them… at least not yet! : ) Here’s a few pictures of the pretty side of Las Vegas.
Here’s the funny thing. Even when you’re a professional photographer, your vacation pictures of yourself look just like everyone elses, arm outstretched with the camera right up in your face, or your rear end as you’re running to get into the picture once the timer is set. Here’s our inventive Vegas pic… reflection! (Incidentally, I only noticed once I uploaded this picture that these are actually a double set of doors, so if you’ll look closely you’ll see that we’re not reflected once, but two times. Bonus!)
Now, some shots of the “real” Vegas (which I appropriately call it’s “backside”).
Even Dave has trouble looking tall here…
Nope. Not our rental car.
This next one is actually my favorite shot from Vegas. It kind of sums up the feeling I got from the place, full of people, yet solitary. This picture just feels to me like loneliness.
So in the end, lots learned, but always so good to be home. To the place where life is normal…
whatever that means.
